Judy, Emma and I made this hike for our third time over this past weekend. It rained the night before so everything was soaked which kept the bugs down. The air was cool and clear. The river crossings looked more difficult than usual, so we opted to stay on the east bank past the first two crossings. The book I have describes this as a bushwhack, but it really isn't. The trail is so well worn that it appears to be a maintained trail, though it isn't. We met up with VFTT'ers, J&J and further along Big Earl and Blue Blazes. All great folks who I probably would have nodded to and passed along the trail if it hadn't been for their avatars on VFTT. I recognized them by their tiny pictures and met some great folks this way. On the summits of each Twin we enjoyed a nice cool, bug-free breeze and exceptionally clear views. Fair weather cumulus floated by and gave us some reprieve from the sun. A great day in the mountains. Full trip report and pictures here:
