North Germantown/Hudson Boat Launch Eagle

I was up in North Germantown today and would like to report that there is an eagle hanging out just south of the boat launch. I wouldn't have noticed until I heard its distinctive cry.

Apparently there is a small bit of open water in the ice and I bet that is what the bird is interested in; its way too busy for a nest.

There is also a big red tail hawk that likes to hang around as well, but it may have gone south.

I have seen an eagle hanging around that area last summer I think when I padded by Germantown.. I might have a picture of it sitting on a bare tree on a rocky shoal...

Awesome. If it wasn't for the quick view of the bridge in the background, you could tell people that the video was taken on the Hudson Bay, not the Hudson River. Very cool.

Thanks, Chris... Trudy I am not sure. There are many different species and I cannot tell from the video.

While doing research I found http://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/25610.html , which gives a monthly almanac of flora and fauna changes on the river.
