Audrey, Pat, plus Jeanie and I had a great trip yesterday up to the Cliffs on the side of N. Pack Monadnock. When we drove by the trail head for the Wapack Trail up North Pack, there were about 12 cars already parked. So, we decided that we would check out Ted's Trail again. It was a great day to hike with a few black flies, but the breezes kept them away. Jeanie loved the brook, and took every opportunity to enjoy the clear icy waters, followed by a good roll in the leaves and pine needles. We ate a leisurely lunch on the cliffs above the Cliff Trail, only seeing one family enjoying the day and a couple of hikers. The many shades of green viewed from up high were a delight to see. Jeanie was entranced by a lone turkey vulture, but didn't try to become airborne and chase it!! We were dismayed to find a deer tick up there!
We ambled over in the direction of North Pack, but chose to take the cutover to Ted's Trail and go down pass the beautiful brook. A great way to spend Mother's Day in the mountains. We came back to my house for a delicious dinner cooked by my hubbie!
