The snow depth on the upper third of the trail below treeline soft and deep. Once above treeline trail was clear of snow and ice. It was quite foggy and there were no views so I declined to continue on to actual summit, and went down same way. I had originally planned to descend Greenleaf and walk bike path back to trailhead. Though it rained off and on it was a lovely day to be in the woods. I always carry snowshoes this time of year and I used them for the last third of trail, unlike my previous hike up Mt. Garfield the snow had softened and I was starting to posthole almost every step. I was glad to have snowshoes.
