Its been awhile since I've subjected myself to severe criticism, so I thought I'd throw a few pics on here that I like, and see what others think. ;)

First, Nubble Light, just after sunset.

Second, my girlfriend checking it out. She's a California girl, never been to Maine before. I think she loved the coastline.

And finally, fading light. It was just about time for some lobster bisque, steamers, and a large lobsta. :D

Comments, and yes of course, criticisms welcome.

Nice.

Quick recommendations / comments:

1) Crop some off the top on the first and third photos.

2) Brighten (lighten) the lower part of the first photo to bring out a little more detail in the cliff face and water.

3) You might consider cropping the first photo some on the left, to get rid of the utility pole.

4) Although I often like people in photos of this sort, I do not care for the second picture as much as I like the other two. It just doesn’t work that well – the human figure does not provide a frame, nor does it provide scale, and there is little dramatic or dynamic interaction between human and landscape.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

I assume you're ready for your lashings ;) IMHO, put your girlfreind to the right of center, and maybe the lighthouse slightly more to the left of center. It's hard to create a satisfying, interesting image when subject matter is in the center of the frame. The image usually won't hold interest as long if everything is centered. If you place subject matter and complimentary matter more evenly dispersed throughout the composition you may like it better. Try to compose an image that will make the eye roam around the whole image. Just my opinion, and there are always exeptions.

These are nice images; thanks for posting. It reminds me of my native Rhode Island and my granfather's clambakes :D

happy trails :)
