I know mid-october is somewhat rifle season in the catskills, does any of you Catskill members know a more exact date. I think it might be easier to ask the folks here than to fish through the official websites and translate that to English. :)

I'm not that much worried about bow season or even shotgun season as much as rifle season...

Thanks Lumberzac and Ken.

I have those links, I guess by looking at Ken's reply, the map they show, when they say "Regular Nov 22nd - Dec 14", they mean that is Rifle season? That's what I couldn't figure out, like is there an Irregular season? Only wackos can hunt then? :D :D

Get ready for all the DEC checkpoints then on the thruway or Rt 17 around thanksgiving time!

What do you hunt them with? Ninja Stars?

Only if you dress up with a black Ninja suit and a balaclava. :)

A non-PC answer would also be a wrist-rocket...

Regular means rifle and or shotgun (parts of the southern zone are shotgun only, though I'm not sure where).

Here is the map for the zones where rifles are allowed. These would be allowed during regular season.

BTW, squirrels make a mighty fine meal, much more preferable than rabbits to me anyways. When I used to hunt them it was either with a shotgun and #4 birdshot (full choke) or a .22 rifle. They were my introduction to hunting when I was a young teen. They require the same skills as deer hunting and were a fun and productive introduction to the sport.
