A friend & I hiked Nye & Street using the Old Nye Ski Trail. Thanks to the folks who got us steered correctly onto the trail! Indian Pass Creek crossing was sketchy. Apparently, last weeks thaw saw the ice leave the creek. We were able to find a spot that had some chunks to an island about halfway across and the second part had refrozen enough so that we could safely cross. The trails were generally hard and snowshoes were not necessary except for traction on the hills both going up and down. At one point on the main trail before the split to the peaks, we encountered a trail to the left. This trail is incorrect and someone has marked "NO" by the trail, besides having dumped some orangish juice. When you eventually see the rock cairn, this marks the split to both peaks. The weather was awesome with sunshine and hardly any wind at all. No views fron Nye summit, but nice lookouts on the trail. Street had a great view with clouds over what we thought to be the series of Wright, Algonquin & Iroquois.
If planning a hike, beware of Indian Pass Creek. If another thaw occurs, the creek will likely be unpassable without hipboots!
