On this day we found ourselves alone with the mountains. The weather started cool around 25° F but soon reached near 40° F. Clear skies, no wind and a well packed trail. Indian Pass Brook still has a solid cover with some new openings forming down stream from where you cross.

Once crossed, stay to the right and follow the frozen pond. During summer months, you must ascend the bank and follow the trail along the ridge, today we could walk around the shoulder by staying on the ice then rejoin the trail and continue along the herd path.

The hike in was made even more pleasant when looking up and seeing some of the bluest skies you could imagine. It was warm and we were soon hiking in T-shirts and snowshoes.

The ascent to the Col took us closer to Nye than the traditional summer route. Once we were at the "T", turning right brought us to Nye in about five minutes. We attempted to locate the old canister bolt, but were unsuccessful.

The trip over to Street followed a route East of the normal herd path. It winded its way along the ridge and even circumnavigated Street to bring us to the summit from a Easterly direction. From the vista point just off the summit, we sat and enjoyed the views. The various ranges in view were spectacular. Lunch and a brew were shared before we reluctantly departed back to the Loj.

On such a beautiful day, it seamed strange that we saw no one. The return trip took two hours from the Street summit to the car. The warm weather was breaking down the packed trail fast, and in some places the snow pack was already thinning all the way to the ground.
