Since Friday June 27, 2008, upon reaching Dix Mt. summit, JAN WELLFORD of Keene Valley, NY, owns the best time for the Adirondack 46 Speed Climbing record!!!
A noble athlete, Jan, with the help of a small but dedicated group of friends, achieved a lifetime of memories for all of them. No thanks to Gary as he unwittingly started to lead Jan on a bushwhack to Allen… though he redeemed himself by chasing not one but two bears off the foot path in the Dix Range ahead of Jan’s home stretch traverse!
Although Jan barely touches the ground as he zooms over the mountains, his adventure is no small feat. He can now ride high in the clouds and enjoy his accomplishment over our beloved Adirondack Mountains.
It couldn’t happen to a nicer young man.
