Trail Conditions: bare ground to narrow ridges of snow- packed in the center, but posthole conditions off to either side. Knee deep between peaks. No trouble crossing streams.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes were not useful due to the narrow ridge of snow. All 10 hikers seen, inc. ourselves carried them, but no one used them. Postholing was occasionally a problem. We did best with stabilicers.
Comments: Typical spring day in the Whites. No bugs. Spring migrants are singing: black and white warbler, yellow-rumped, juncos. Out with Anti-Zen and Simple Fire for about 5 hours round trip.
