I'm thinking about maybe hitting Flume and Liberty this weekend (instead of swimming to the Hancocks)using this route up and back. Has anyone been there in the past week that can give me some details about the snow and ice conditions on this route?

I was with McRat. We encountered snow beginning at the wooden steps on Osseo (around 3500 ft?), and it continued up to treeline, at which point the ground was bare and dry. I was very surprised by the depth of snow that remained, considering the time of year - at least a couple of feet. There was a bit less snow on the Liberty Spring Trail, it petered out down at the Liberty Spring Campsite. Didn't get a good look at the Flume Slide Trail but I saw hardly any sign anyone had come that way since fall - my guess is most people turned around before reaching the top. Osseo and Liberty Spring were barebootable, though crampons wouldn't have hurt.
Note it seems to have been snowing all week since then, though I don't know how much has accumulated.
