There was an AMC group on the trail around 7. We left the lot around 8:15. Black pond was broken out by the group ahead but still needed snowshoes. The bushwhack at black pond was well defined. The brook trail is in great condition and the water crossings are still very thick and sturdy. The Brutus was still well defined and needed a little breaking out for the first few hundred feet, then it was waste deep and a lot of work! A few guys from the AMC and dehydrator took turns cutting a path, extremely slow going for a while. Then we came across an old set of foot prints and followed them and things started moving much quicker. We made it to the ridge and eventually found a tree with "O.H. TOP" carved out on the south side, it was near the cairn, which was almost completely buried. When did that tree get carved? Wasn't like that last April!! Anyway, hallelujah there is a very clear path laid down for anyone heading out there and you have dehydrator and Sam and Tim and Scott to thank for that!! So me and dehydrator were out by 5, it took a very long time to get from the water crossing to the summit! The rest is smooth sailing!
