Route: Lincoln Woods Trail to Franconia Brook Trail. Overnight at Thirteen Falls, Lincoln Brook Trail, Owl's Head path, and out.

Comments: Recent rain raised the water level on the stream crossings. We kept hearing about the deep crossing on the Lincoln Brook Trail which had turned at least one hiker around and weren't looking forward to it. The northern section of Lincoln Brook Trail is a bit challenging to follow. We met some hikers who had missed the turnoff for the Owl's Head path but a small cairn is there as a hint to show this is where the path heads up. (I've been there three times before, so would've have recognized it anyway, but it was a little different coming in from the opposite direction this time.) For the two big water crossings on our way out, we just kept our boots on a waded through. It was cold, knee deep with some deeper pockets our probing poles warned us to stay away from. (We had considered taking the Fisherman's bushwack back but it was getting late and with all the water might have been more trouble than it was worth.) Excellent backpack! Great company and I mooched some great food from my friends Saturday night.
