Black Pond bushwack was muddy at times. The orange spray painted blazes bring you out pretty far west on the Franconia Brook trail better off to stay more northerly on the bushwack. Francionia BrokTr. muddy in spots. Crossings were just barely negotiable rock hopping, easy wading tho. Slide was wet in many places we went up on right and down middle to right carefully managed and doable.
Met the Ranger on top he was on his way to "Take Down" the "Owl's Head" sign that was attached to the tree at the "new" summit. I think he may have left the cairn that's there. The heard path to the new summit has many trees across the path and is easily lost at times care is need to reach the new summit.
I would take Teva's or wading shoes of some sort other than that no special equipment unless you own a GPS.
