Trailhead: Owl's Head Trail from the parking area on Rt. 115, at the Cherry Mountain Slide Historical marker; parking area snowbank had been shoveled out and a few spots to park, plus the rest of the parking lot was frozen solid couple inches of snow, seemed to be no issue getting stuck..usually this trailhead is not open for parking so the trail does not get used much in winter, but now is the time to get it!!

Trail conditions: mainly frozen snow with sections of blue ice; one brook crossing at 1.1 easily jumped over (short distance to right of trail on ascent); one go around big blowdown down low and a few small trees protruding into trail, and then a large fir up high..some one had cut and broken some branches so it was easily climbed over..ice on the steeper areas lead to a cautious descent..plenty of Randolph MC trail/path signs and yellow Cohos blazes and signage to keep one on trail..

Equipment: I used Hillsound Pro Trail Crampons but microspikes would have worked too...needed to cover up once on summit ledges as wind made it chilly...views better than expected with Ike on south open, Presis to north cloud covered, north and west open...about a 3 hr out and back...
