Date of Hike: 2008-07-28.

Trail Conditions: Past the 1st Lincoln Brook crossing, trail dry until second crossing at 0.4 mile before jct with Owl's Head Trail. Jct easy to found as marked with two big cairns each side of the Lincoln Brook Trail. Owl's Head slide very steep with lots of loose rocks. Herd path easy to follow to the top.

Special Equipment Required: GPS to go from Black Pond to Lincoln Brook Trail and back. Jct was at N44°07.166' and W71°35.323'.

Comments: This was a 24km hike in 12h30. We bypass the Franconia Brook crossing and the first Lincoln Brook crossing with a bushwalk of 1 mile bearing at 340° (almost 1 hour) from the end of Black Pond to the Lincoln Brook Trail. This was our first bushwalk in NH, but this is an open wood with few downed trees on a path going uphill past the end of Black Pond than flatten and downhill to reach the trail, it was easy. You must trust your GPS for that long hour and maybe set 2-3 waypoints in between for your return. This save us almost 2 miles over the regular trail and the first two brooks crossing. The other 3 ones were not hard.
