Date of Hike: Saturday, April 7th
Trails: Lincoln Woods, Franconia & Lincoln Brook Trail, Owl's Head Path
Trail Conditions: Franconia Brook Trail to Lincoln Brook junction is almost snow free. The water crossings are low and easy, rock hops and one has a log you can cross on. Minor snow on the Lincoln Brook Trail, water crossings are easy rock hops. Owl's Head Slide is bare rock, to minor ice, to ice flows once entering the woods (50 foot stretch), above that snow covers the rocks and most roots with a small monorail on the ridge that is packed down with some choppy spots. Barebooted up to summit but put on microspikes for ice flow coming down. You can always bypass the dicey stuff off to the sides of the 'trail'.
Special Equipment: microspikes
Comments: Love hiking the trails into Owl's Head, lots of history deep in the pemi, and the slide is always fun! Report / Pictures
