(August 25th) Great conditions -- of four or five real stream fords, only the first (Franconia Brk) required boots off; the rest were easily rock-hopped. Lack of a sign to the Owls Head trail is compensated for by a big wooden arrow in the middle of the trail (and diverse marks on nearby trees). Pretty straightforward to find the trail route up through the scree and trees. Peak is marked by a cairn and stone bench, nothing else.
We did this in an overnight, camping along the Lincoln Brk trail, but the trails to the bottom of Owls Head are so easy (almost flat for a good ten miles of the RT) that it would not be difficult for strong hikers to complete in a day.
