Trails: Lincoln Woods, Black Pond Bushwhack, Lincoln Brook, and Brutus Bushwhack.

Lincoln Woods was a mixture of ice and lumpy snow. Somewhat firm this morning but softened at the end of the day. Bare booted and used micro spikes to Black Pond in the morning and barebooted and used spikes from the trail jct. back to Lincoln woods later.

I hiked with Ed Hawkins and Tom Davis AMC group today. We put on snowshoes at the Pond. There were 10 of us and so we made a new bushwhack from Black Pond to the second crossing on the Lincoln Brk. Trail. A more direct route from the circuitous one that had been there for awhile. Lincoln Brook Tr. was firm this morning and remained firm later in the day, with some softer areas around the drainage areas. A moose had really postholed for awhile on the trail.

We took the Brutus Bushwhack just after the last crossing and had no problems with traction wearing snowshoes, in fact, it was excellent snowshoe snow. The last 3 crossings are still bridged over and in good shape so far.

About 2 to 3 inches of fresh snow on the summit. It actually looked like a mid winter day in February up there.

No others on the trail today besides our group. A good day with a great bunch of guys and gals.
