Owl's Head, Lincoln Woods trail, Black Pond/bushwhack, Lincoln Brook, Herd Path and down Brutus Bushwhack.

Marty, Dave, and Clarke

We began our climb at 7:30 from Lincoln Woods.

Just before our climb, we ran into a group bound for the Bonds, some of them VFTTers that we exchanged friendly greetings. Hope you all had a good time.

The morning felt fresh and anew as put on our microspikes. There was a delicious alpenglow in the parking lot. The trail called for microspikes. We pushed along the snow covered railroad ties and observed some of the damages incurred by Irene.

Arriving at the peace of Black Pond, we stood in awe of the majestic Bonds. The cloud formation overhead and its setting with the morning hues and grays and the aged trees was a sight to treasure.

We pushed through the Black Pond bushwhack. The rise and rolls through the trees and tangling branches was a good trade off for a potential swim in the rivers. Coming onto the trail, we continued our youthful stride up Lincoln Brook, we had only two crossings to pass through to arrive at the base of the slide.

At the Brutus Bushwhack site, Marty and Dave agreed to do the slide. I had to turn around, for I had an injury, thought tamed, awakened. Thus, I made my egress back to the car. Despite such pain, it was a peaceful walk through the woods and I located the bushwhack to Black Pond, thanks to Dave's dog, Nick's paw prints and the baskets of our trekking poles. Cutting into the woods to "Agassiz Rock" I left copious amounts of X's for Marty and Dave to find when they returned potentially through night.

I ran into Pucknuts61 and his partner, whom I later found out who they were, good to meet you both, and thanks for letting my illustrious partners know that I was safe!

After losing the trail, I thought I had Nick's prints to my aid, but thankfully it was near Black Pond, so I cut through the conifers and handrailed the voices I heard to the other side of the pond. I believe here I ran into LRiz and Tim C, had I know it was you, I certainly would have delighted in a few chatty moments.

I made it back to Lincoln Woods at 2:45, having moved in about two hours.

For our two men on the slide, it was a harrowing ascent over rock and ice. Having only just microspikes and moral support of one another, they made it up to Owl's Head in two hours. They descended down Brutus Bushwhack and
that was better going. They can speak for the experience themselves, but they tagged the peak.

They got back to Lincoln Woods several hours after me.

All in all, it was a pleasure to be out enjoying creation and the company of such fine friends, and the dog too!
