Date of Hike: Sunday, January 27th, 2012

Trails: Lincoln Woods, Black Pond, Bushwhack, Lincoln Brook, Brutus Bushwhack, Owl's Head Path

Trail Conditions: Until the next storm all trails and bushwhacks are broken out and beaten down very well. There's some minor drifting on the Lincoln Brook Trail because of all the wind but that is it. Water crossing are snow and ice bridged.

Special Equipment: Light Traction worked fine for us. Showshoes would have been fine too. The steep part of the Brutus Bushwhack is a little slow with the light traction so snowshoes would have bitten better. Whatever you prefer go with it.

Comments: Great day to stay sheltered in the woods for a long hike. We were surprised to only see two other hikers all day. Owl's Head is becoming on of my favorites, wish it wasn't so bitterly cold so we could have taken more breaks. Rangers were out bringing hey to horses that were at the site of the former Black Brook Bridge for junk removal on Monday. Trip Report / Pictures
