Date of Hike: Friday, Feb 1st
Trails: Dicey Mill
Trail Conditions: As soon as we entered the woods beyond the houses, we put on micros as the trail was hard-packed, icey and definitely eroded with recent warm conditions and rain. We even had areas in lower elevations with no snow or ice. The higher elevations had hardpacked & icey areas, frozen post-holes (be careful not to twist an ankle). The one river crossing had raging waters and we found it best to walk over the large tree to the left and this was a very simple crossover. There were some areas up top that looked like a bomb hit as there were a lot of branches & trees down from recent winds, some were cleared with no major obstacles.
Special Equipment: Microspikes, snowshoes stayed attached to the bag all day
Comments: We decided to do the loop (unintentional) and went to the right and had some fantastic views all around. Cold day but wind was lower than expected, phenomenal views from the outlooks!
