Thanks to all the folks who posted info on PATN!!!!
Date: 8/23/08
Trails: Bushwhack
Conditions: all woods dry and fairly open. Lots of bugs on the summit.
Comments:
I parked at the 3 rocks on Haystack Rd, walked around 150 yds up the logging rd and then headed at 210 degrees. There are several large logged/pricker areas and logging roads to avoid. One stream area with many saplings near the beginning had countless tracks and piles of scat.
Once on the ridge, a very easy b/w as mentioned. Crazy looking caves and monstrous boulders along the way!!!! I was waiting for a bear to pop out!!!!
Anyway, great views from the false summit and the lookout on the east side of the real summit. I had trouble finding the canister - I felt like an idiot, but it was on a blow-down!!!
From the peak back down to the false summit, it seemed like a very loud crow was following me. It kept incessantly calling and calling, but I could never see it... An awesome time!
