Up with 13 from NJSAR's Mountain Rescue Unit. Peekamoose treated us to 18 inches of fresh snow and an unbroken trail, blowdown was light but ice on the trees hampered progress some, ice hasent formed in the cliff bands yet so the day went smoothly not having to change from snowshoes to crampons and back. The only wet spot on the trail was at the spring and it was running. The snow was relentless all day but the winds where light. Temps where in the 20's at the trailhead and 13 at the summit. Oviously snow shoes where required and I would recomend crampons go along now that the track is cut and some of the rock in the cliff bands is getting exposed. Peekamoose road was clear and the sanders where out but care should be taken as there is some icy spots. The plow trucks did not plow the trailhead lot as of yesterday due to the fact that all of our trucks where there, so there is a snow burm to get over to get into the lot. As always another oustanding day in the Catskills.
