Date of Hike: 3/9/08
Trail Conditions: Variable & changed as the day went on. Morning: 6"-'12" of soft snow in the morning to about 2,000' 1" f fresh powder on ice to about 3,000' Soft snow increasing to 1-2' at Peekamoose summit. 1-2' of snow varying from hard frozen to soft off trail to Lone. Between Lone & rocky 2-3' of mostly soft powder. On the return trip the snow on the trails was mostly frozen and bare bootable. The middle section was melted to bare ground.
Special Equipment Required: I wore snow shoes and stablicers all day. Snow shoes required off trail. Several people bare booted or wore crampons to Peekamoose with out problems.
Comments: This was a day of contrasts. 14 miles, 4,200' elevation gain, 11 hours. Tough but rewarding. Complete Trip Report
