Why thank you. I had always interpreted it to mean what you said -- coloring in the map. But this usage implied something different, perhaps even the "hardest" route (thus requiring you run your engine near the redline.)

Actually that's something I've thought of doing for years - mark off on a map of the WMNF all the routes I've travelled (probably with lead pencil), look for large blank areas, and go there trail or not. I was thinking of trying for every square mile (so on a 1:62,500 map that's every square inch but may get lazier if I ever actually see how big the squares are.Papa Bear said:add to that the quote "I think Al is trying to redline every square inch of the Pemi!" and you really have a mixed metaphore.
