I had a fun? experience climbing Pen Y Fan, which is in the Brecon Beacons National Park in central Wales on October 12. Of course, it was shrouded in fog, but we still had a good day, doing a circular, and hiking up to Pen Y Fan, which has preciptious cliffs on one side. We then went over to Corn Di, which I keep thinking of as Corn Dog , and then went down many stone steps and back to the car park, where it was pouring rain.
The most unusual animal that we saw were Wild Welsh Ponies, which one of the other groups had fun with. They blew gently into one of the nostrils, like in The Horse Whisperer, and the horses started to follow them as they walked along. It was an eerie experience to have these ponies following along on this misty peak.
Saw many school groups out along the trail. Beautiful country and views from the top, at least it looks it from my postcard!
