Date of Hike 1/1/2010
Mount Percival and Mt. Morgan via
Mt. Percival Tr., Crawford Ridgepole Trail, Mount Morgan Tr.
Special Equipment needed. Snowshoes or light traction
Trail conditions varied from snow covered rocks, icy ledge, wet rocky leafy areas, to plenty of snow for snowshoeing.
We stayed on snowshoes for the entire hike.
A good 10 inches of snow will fill in and cover the exposed rocks we encountered on long sections of both the Percival and Morgan trails. There was plenty of great snowshoeing on the Crawford Ridgepole trail. This is a great winter hike to try out new gear and clothing combos in a safe protected enviroment. There were some tricky scrambles up icy ledges that we all negotiated quite well. Happy New Year to all.
