Road looked rough to the new trailhead so we decided to park at the first parking area and walk the extra .8 mile due to mud etc. We passed a few people driving out with 4 wheel drives. The trail had some muddy areas that we had to walk around but not bad. There were no bugs. Didn't see many trees down until we reached the lake and started up the east shore. A beautiful water snake was enjoying the warm rocks near the bridge so we decided not to disturb him. We continued to the first leanto, had a snack, enjoyed the beautiful views and headed out.
