Bushwhacked up to the summit from Klondike notch trail in fairly open woods most of the way. Great views from Phelps, where one of us celebrated his 46th high peak.
Trail from the summit down to the Marcy trail was icy in spots. No snow at all anywhere in the woods on Phelps or Tabletop. The Tabletop trail was icier than Phelps. Highly windy this day, but a nice peek-a-view from Tabletop.
Recommend bring crampons or stabilicers or similar, as this ice is not going away anytime soon.
Made it back out under headlamps via the truck trail to South Meadow, where the van was waiting.
