An easy hike for my first one of the winter season 2008-2009. 
Firm base, with an inch of new snow. The first part of the trail from the Loj, is on an icy base, but after we can see that the base have froze after the rain of the other day. Half way, from Van H/to the summit, the base is not frozen. It seems like it did not had rain over there. The very last part of the trail, on the summit, had +/-8 inches of new snow. Maybe after your visit, Willie. Very plesant day, with even with some sun.
Maybe the quality of the trails will change after the rain and the frezing rain we supposed to receive today.
Snowshoes with crampons required. No crampons required.
