Phelps question

Don't remember if crampons are needed for Phelps & Tabletop summits.
Also, any designated tent sites along the way on the Phelps trail ?

Crampons are definitely not needed on the trail up Tabletop, unless the trail is all ice from frozen rain or frozen meltwater. Phelps I find is more a matter of opinion. I have not used crampons on Phelps, and I don't think you need them. There are a few small "ice walls," though, so it would be a good idea if you had a good crampon system on your snowshoes. Microspikes might also be a good idea.

There are designated tent camp sites along the trail, both near Marcy Dam and near the Phelps trailhead.

last time I went up phelps, the bottom was a frozen series of drop offs. this is perfect weather for ice. bring the 'pons.
