Hi my friends & ennemy.
After a too long day waiting for the rain, We just removed the snow on the base camp roof, earlier this morning Junior put me outside of the bed.
He prepared my coffee and toast and He put the day wax under my snowshoes...go boy!!!
With the big yesterday rain We took the decision to go for the summits where We will not need to cross the river or brook. Just when We passed over the bridge near the jumpping ski place, We saw it was a good decision.
Very few cars in the parking, We are (Queen, junior & me) the first peoples in the ADK trail. We signed for Phelps & Tabletop. I keep in my mind the possibility to Colden also.
Very hard snow, We take the decision to do not use the bridge for high water, it was not the best decision, We need to build a golden bridge for the Queen (log)!!!
Perfect snowshoes tracks with around one inch of new powder for Phelps and Tabletop. Thank You Joe for this Chrismas gift.
It was only 20 minutes after eleven, too early to return at the base camp. Junior and me We go to Colden. First difficulty the indian fall brook was in open water, fortunately a perfect two floors bridge was near the usual way.
We put the snowshoes on the first florr and hands on the second, piece of cake.
Probabely only one may be two peoples, not more, used the pass between Indian fall and the Colden trail.
The snow give a good support except a couple places the trail was in open water. We need to cross the other brook just before the Colden trail. Just put the snowshoes in icy rock and the next step snowshoes in water and We are in the other side.
Same nice snowshoes tracks for Colden ( thank You Santa Clos, We don't know the responsable) with around 3 " of new powder, with snow drift 6" near the Colden summit, very windy but not cold.
All the day, nice falling dry snow, perfect hiking day.
Merry Chrismas, peace on earth and specialy in this site.
P.S. For the 2 next days it will be smart to hike in trail or path without brooks to cross.
