That's a great public access victory for paddlers and a good precedent to have.

I would be nice if we could put together a trip duplicating Phil's excursion.

Interesting side note. The "Old Money" that purchased the land for the "Friends of Thayer Lake" and the "Brandreth Park Association" came from Great Great Grand-daddy Dr. Benjamin Brandreth. Brandreth made his fortune during the 1800's with "Brandreth's Universal Vegetable Pills". ie. he peddled patent medicine laxatives to the ignorant masses as a universal cure which played off the universally accepted notion that blood impurities were the cause of many ills.
