Pico - 10/8/12
Accessed trailhead by parking in gravel lot at HOL in Sherburne Pass.
Followed the Sherburne Pass Trail (blue blazes) up to summit. Trail grading was easy to moderate. Very wet and muddy due to rain; wet snow on the higher elevations.
At 3500', the Trail traverses around the 3500' contour, bringing you to Pico Camp Shelter. Avoid this unnecessary extra mileage by walking up the ski slope from this point to the summit (about .4). At the summit, you will have to climb the steps of the "information" shack, passing the building, and finding the summit "blue blaze" on a rock a few yards past this building.
We were surprised by the wet snow.
This was my NEHH finish!!
