Woke up at the usual time this morning.....rolled over and asked the husband one more time, "Are you sure you don't want to come? It's really nice out already!" Yesterday when I asked him to come with me he was all excited but alas, he has changed his mind. Oh well....and off I go!
I started up the Crawford Path a little before nine and I was amazed at how warm it was already. My body has spent the past few months adjusting to the cold and now I have to go through it all again as the days are starting to get warmer.....with all the sweating I was doing I am sure this is how Seabuscuit must have felt when they wrapped in the sweat blankets.
The trail was in great shape...I was expecting it to be a bit of a mess with Monday/Tuesday rain event. I barebooted for a while and then put on the stabilicers for a little more traction. Made it to the summit in no time and was rewarded with spectacular views and believe it or not, hardly any wind at all! I thought about going over to Eisenhower but was content just finding a rock to hang out on. I stayed there for about an hour and a half during which time another solo hiker came by, he was heading to Washington. Shortly after his departure a big group came by, I think there were sixteen altogether, and then they headed off towards Eisenhower too.
Headed back down around noon time and the trail had softened up quite a bit since this morning. Overall another great day to be out!
