Pine Island - Packsaddle bushwhack 3-15-2011

One of those days that winter rewards for the harder ones earlier in the season. Rock hard in the morning on the way up, open forest, great views, perfect temperatures and a lively and fun group.
Another '12' day on the 1-10 scale.
Maddy picked up 2 more Catskill 100 summits, and Dick 1 more.
The boilerplate snow was nirvana for Bookah, and she could run and she roamed up, down, and across as we climbed. She climbed the mountains at least 3x today. Doghiker and people heaven with these conditions.

It was a good day for animal tracks. We followed coyote tracks up the trail to Table from Denning and saw where it marked it's territory along the way. It pretty much followed the marked trail with slight meandering to the side all the way to the summit. It looked like it turned around a few times and we were thinking it might have heard us coming.

The summits of Table and Peekamoose were covered with snowshoe hare tracks and we could see where they were chewing on the lower branches that are starting to get buds.

We saw tracks from grouse with wing prints.

We saw some tracks of weasel/ermine lower on the mountain. One headed into a hole looking for mice, I imagine, and back out again.

Thanks for posting the fisher tracks. I haven't seem them before, but I did see a fisher once.
