Elk Lake to Pinnacle and Baxter & Carry Trail:
The blow down had been cleared with the exception one triple tree across the trail near the junction leading toward Pinnacle. The ridge had a few patches of snow, but east side of Baxter had some wedge shaped wet ice that required some effort to avoid. The end of the Carry trail was closed due to an unsafe bridge. easy detour to the tractor road for a bit.
Elk Lake to Haystack via Panther gorge.
Only blowdown as above, snow patches soft and easy to negotiate. Trail near Panther gorge is missing many log mini bridges but it was fairly dry so no serious problems. Be aware this route requires steep scrambles that might be ladders elsewhere & the legendary log path (1970s?) passed Marcy swamp is mostly OK but nearing the end of its function.
