Trails: Piper Mountain Trail, Belknap Range Trail (orange, white, blue), Gunstock Mountain Trail
Parking/Access Road Notes: Carriage Road still gated, park at gates at bottom of it
Recommended Equipment: Bareboots fine, waterproof boots a great idea instead of trail runners
Bugs: A variety out, none biting.
Comments: Much of this route can be deemed snow free, albiet wet. Piper Mtn snow free and Gunstock Mtn trail snow free except two small patches. The trails along the ridge did have some extended patches of snow/exposed blue ice, but can be avoided without ever needed microspikes or anything. Several areas of fresh moose scat. Some big water and mud pits. Very warm afternoon, my thermomether was between 79-81 on this hike! Smell of humid air and hazy views completed summer feel.
