We hiked Pitchoff mnt today. Trail was well defined for a while but we lost it after we got to the first summit. We couldn't find the trail markers. We finally ended up bushwhacking down the mountain and when we got to the road, we noticed that we were right next to the "Pitchoff walls". Glad we went down where we did and not a hundred feet more to the left! Snowshoes a must unless you're masochist and poles very useful. Not much ice and a bit of fresh snow. Once you get to the first summit, make sure you look for markers and if not go back to the last one and try to find the trail. Don't follow the footsteps blindly or you might end up down the mountain as we did. By the way we did it from west to east.
