We climbed Plateau from Stony Clove Notch. It's a very steep and steady climb from the beginning. You scramble up a huge rock outcropping to some really great views towards Hunter. Spring beauty with it's tiny white flowers is all over the place and we saw trout lilies and trillium, just the foliage.
There is another view point further on the trail towards Katerskill High Peak and Round Top and the Blackhead Range. I think if it was a clearer day we could have seen the Hudson.
There was some snow on the trail along the long flat summit, but nothing was slippery and we did fine in boots.
We walked until the intersection with the new Warners Creek Trail (sign notes the miles to Mt.Tremper). This trail meanders down the mountain passing several vistas, through a moss covered evergreen forest, around interesting rock outcroppings, past yellow wood violets until you come to another intersection. The trail crosses an old woods road which we followed until Notch Inn Rd. and then 214.
This hike required 1/2 h walk on the road, but there was a beaver dam and it went quickly.
