Conditions: As reported by Ed&Lauky last week the Ledges Trail is free of snow. It may be a bit drier as no wading was required (although we needed to bypass off-trail to avoid one vernal pool). Bald Peak Trail still has some patches of snow but they were neither deep nor big and even with my old, leaky boots my feet remained dry. This trail featured ledges that were wetter and muddier (and therefore more slippery) than the Ledges Trail and I might have preferred ascending via Bald Peak rather than descending.

Required Equipment: Legs, in good working order. Other than that poles were nice to have, especially on the slippery parts. No winter equipment needed.

Comments: A lovely pre-summer hike! We spotted coltsfoot, yellow violets, blueberries and trailing arbutus in bloom. Also saw trout lily, wild oats, and canada mayflower not in bloom. Great views from summits of Pleasant Mtn and Bald Peak.
