Date of Hike: June 14th
Trail Conditions: Trails were in excellent condition from Appalachia to Mount Jackson. From the summit of Jackson to Crawford Notch trail (Webster-Jackson trail) conditions were sub par. Easily passable- they just need a little TLC.
Special Equipment Required: We left the Appalachia trailhead at 3:15am so needed headlamps for the first hour or so. Otherwise no special equipment needed.
Comments: Conditions were terrific. I would suggest starting the traverse early morning as we did. This allowed us to get to the summit of Washington before the sun started to get hot (10am). The 2nd half of the trip was much easier and was easily doable in the heat of the midday sun. Trip time from trailhead to trailhead- 12 hours 45 mins.
Thanks Dad- it was fun!
