valley way to mt washington summit via gulfside. mt washington to crawford notch via crawford path. valley way is fine with boots. no icy sections right now. the north presidentials were mostly blown clean, very little snow, very little ice. as always (it seems) the crawford section down to lakes of the clouds was very steep and icy. put the crampons on! we took ours off around mt. pierce but in retrospect would have liked them on all the way to treeline. there is enough ice in the southern presidentials to make them worth the occasional rocky section. crawford path was less consolidated than valley way, so its possible to post hole once in a rare while with boots, but still snowshoes arent necessary, although i always bring them anyway just in case..
