I've been watching the temperature inch down on Mt. Washington for the last several hours. It's currently 31.5F with about 30 minutes left to today. The record low for August 19th is 29F (1958). Will today's temperature break this 50-year record? I'll find out tomorrow morning. I'm going to guess that it won't.

While it won't become official for another hour and a half, it looks like we'll be a degree short....

However, we have some good icing up here today, and winds are above hurricane force. Impressive for august...

I dont think it made it, 30 degrees was the coldest I could find, still darn cold! Whitefield and Berlin got down to the upper 30's. Right when people get used to this cool weather its going to finally get very warm this week, 80's to 90 on Friday. -Mattl

I hope it hits 1000 degrees on Friday! And then absolute zero the next day. Then we'll really have a lot to talk about!!

Hey, Jim, are you back working at the Obsy this summer? How was your first full year in the valley? Cheers, Dr. D.

Hi Dr.D

The Obs had some turnover this summer, as two observers moved to Juneau, AK to do weather observing up there...so I got to fill it.

Teaching went well...I start year two on monday! And...this year the outing club is mine...which I'm very excited about!

Good to hear from ya...
