Hello everybody,

Me and a friend would like to hike the Hancocks tomorrow starting from the standard route off the Kanc. Ellozy's page has this note: "There are several stream crossings which may be difficult."

I am wondering if anybody who's been out there might know what to expect. Are the streams super high right now due to all the rain? Or should we be OK? As an alternate, we're considering Webster Cliffs/Jackson, so any info on that would be great, too. I haven't seen any recent postings on those in the trail condition reports.

Thanks!
Chris

The rains will probably be drained out of the system by the weekend, but with the tropical temperatures forecast I would worry very much about the snowmelt.

We were on Jackson Saturday, via the Webster Jackson Trail. The snow was very deep and snowshoes are probably needed now. A hiker we met as we were descending said he had tried to go over to Webster first but it was too difficult for him even with snowshoes.

keep in mind that those crossings on the way to hancock are pretty easily bypassed with short bushwacks. i don't know what the snow conditions will be like, so going off trail may be an option or not so much fun.
enjoy.
