Excellent conditions apart from a muddy area at the small pond near Rocky Ridge Peak. The pond that's 0.7 miles from the Chapel Pond trail head is about twice the size it used to be (courtesy of Irene perhaps?). there a very nice sawed off log bridge the pond it now.
Comments: We went from Rt. 9 to the Chapel Pond trail head on Rt. 73. I underestimated the difficulty of the trail. You're either going steeply up or steeply down. Not much in-between stuff. We were more tired doing this trail than when we did Haystack and the back of Marcy in August, which is probably twice as long and possibly has more elevation gain than RR traverse.
