The Vermont Center for Ecostudies has announced more routes for thier Mountain Watch citizen science program. This program uses volunteers to monitor routes throughout the northeast. We etierh camp or hike in so that we are in place by 4:30 am. We are monitoring montane bird species with a focus on Bicknell's Thrush. You can have your route done before your morning coffee. You can sign up through the links below, just poke around a bit. They have added more routes across the region.
From a recent announcement:
All of our new routes are finally up on our
website! You can browse regional maps to find routes in your area of
interest (http://www.vtecostudies.org/MBW/Routetopos.html), and you can
explore our Available Routes page
(http://www.vtecostudies.org/MBW/availableroutes.html ) to find detailed
information about each available route. Note that routes that
volunteers have already explicitly committed to for 2012 are not listed
on the Available Routes page, but you can find information about these
routes on the Route Topos page
(http://www.vtecostudies.org/MBW/Routetopos.html).
