We went up from Rt.73 on the Zander Scott Trail that had lots of ice. Wore microspikes all day but could have used our crampons on the upper ledges. Didn't need axes. The bigger ice flows tapped all our energy and with a badly twisted knee just below the junction to RPR, we decided to save it for another day. Went out on the Roaring Brook trail and took the cutoff to the Washbowl to get back to the car. Nice weather after mid-day with about 6" of snow higher on Giant. I'm going to take the tips of our trekking poles to the bench grinder tomorrow so they'll be more useful on the ice!
