trails: bushwack

conditions: to access my starting point i drove in east inlet road from rt. 3 just north of second connecticut lake. after the bridge i turned left towards scott bog (scott bog road) driving about 1.9 then turning right and continuing for about another 2.2 to a large grassy area to the left (north) side of the road. the roads were all in very good shape and were a non-issue to drive in a passenger car. if going beyond where i parked there is a funny culvert a short distance up the road that i immediately started to scrape when driving over, but a higher clearance would make it no problem. from parking i bushwacked roughly towards the summit through a wet area of old skidder roads then into open and wet woods up to the boundary swath just northwest of the highpoint (emerging right at a hunting shack on the canadian side of the border). i walked the swath for a short distance then ducked back into the woods and up to the highpoint which is just south of the swath. in this area the swath was like an atv trail and seemed like it would have decent walking. descending i used the same general bearing, but a different line with good results though still boggy as i approached the road.

equipment: nothing in particular.

comments: after a change of plans due to cloud and fog not lifting as i had hoped i started the day off with a hike up to salmon. lots of nice open woods and surprisingly easy access given the good condition of the roads. some pretty nice moose paths and endless sign along the way.
